DEDICATED HAND CARRY / OBC
Dedicated custody, when the item calls for it.
An on-board courier, or OBC, accompanies an eligible shipment on a passenger journey as part of a dedicated plan. PORTADOR BLACK reviews whether it fits the item, route and deadline before offering it.
Explain why custody matters.
Give the item, packed size, weight, declared value and why fewer handovers matter. Requests may involve important attire, an eligible original document or a specialised small item. High-risk valuables need separate review and are not accepted simply because hand carry is requested.
Cabin carriage is a distinct question.
A courier accompanying goods does not mean every item is permitted in the cabin or stays continuously within sight. Airline baggage limits, security screening, size and route conditions apply. The proposal must explain the actual carriage and custody arrangements.
Availability precedes a departure promise.
Courier suitability, travel permissions, flight connections, item acceptance and recipient handover must align. BLACK does not promise a courier on every route, immediate departure, same-flight carriage or a particular arrival time from an enquiry alone.
Borders and declarations still matter.
Commercial items cannot be disguised as a traveller’s personal effects. Export/import and customs requirements need assessment. Hand carry does not bypass screening or guarantee release. Sensitive supporting documents belong in the appropriate secure workflow.
Agree a clear handover chain.
Confirm releasing and receiving people, meeting points, updates and the exception plan. Review travel-related and handling costs within the quote. Track the accepted shipment within BLACK using its issued AWB, and keep the handover instructions with your booking.
Is OBC the same as ordinary baggage delivery?+
No. It is a separately assessed dedicated-custody service. Standard baggage delivery can use a different operational plan.
Can hand carry avoid customs?+
No. Lawful classification, declarations, permissions and examination still apply at the relevant borders.
