A useful baggage plan starts with your own ticket and the pieces you will actually send. There is no universal international allowance, domestic limit or fixed-price suitcase product.
Check the allowance on your booking.
Airline, fare, route and ticket arrangement affect baggage entitlement. A connection on a separate ticket may need different consideration. Verify the current airline instructions and decide which bags remain with the traveller instead of relying on a generic 23 kg or 15 kg assumption.
Compare actual pieces.
If two bags weigh 23 kg each, together they weigh 46 kg. Forwarding one leaves 23 kg with you. That arithmetic is not an airline allowance or quotation. Identify the exact piece count, contents and destination before comparing a logistics quote with an airline charge.
Understand weight and space.
Scale weight and volumetric weight are different: one measures mass, the other the space occupied under the applicable calculation. Bulky light luggage can therefore be assessed above scale weight. The reviewed proposal explains the agreed rate, calculation and billing basis.
Expect measurement verification.
Early weights and dimensions are provided in good faith. PORTADOR checks packed measurements during processing; missing dimensions do not mean zero volume. Final billing follows verified pieces and the accepted rate. Any material scope change should be explained.
Read beyond the headline price.
Check collection, delivery, packing, handling, tax and any applicable destination or statutory charges. Declared value is not insurance. No automatic saving or blanket cover is claimed. Confirm accepted payment methods for the reviewed quote before relying on an overseas card.
Will forwarding always be cheaper than airline charges?+
No. A valid comparison needs your actual ticket charge, actual pieces and the complete reviewed shipping scope.
