Visiting family, returning for a longer stay or moving between countries can involve bags for several destinations. PORTADOR BLACK helps assess the logistics; residency or OCI status alone does not determine a customs concession.
Describe the journey your belongings take.
Say whether bags arrive with you, travel separately, remain abroad for collection or need onward movement within India. Give origin/destination postcodes and relevant dates. Domestic delivery of released baggage is different from an international import.
Make a destination-by-destination list.
Separate pieces for your own stay, family recipients and any return journey. Give approximate weights and an honest contents summary. New purchases, gifts, professional equipment and sale goods should not all be grouped as used personal effects.
Check customs against your circumstances.
Current Indian baggage rules distinguish relevant passenger circumstances and types of movement. Do not assume an NRI, OCI or returning-resident label grants duty-free treatment for every item. Ask the authority or qualified adviser about individual eligibility and required evidence.
Arrange release after formalities.
Standard airport collection follows applicable arrival clearance at an agreed permitted landside point. If a bag is held, delayed or imported separately, tell the team. Customs release and airline release are not replaced by a BLACK booking.
Keep the essentials private and close.
Keep travel documents, money, medicine and immediate needs with you. Submit required identity or customs evidence only through the secure workflow when requested. International numbers and email support the initial enquiry without an Indian OTP.
Does an OCI card make all belongings duty free?+
No blanket entitlement is stated here. Customs eligibility depends on applicable rules and the actual passenger, goods and movement.
Can you forward bags to several family addresses?+
