SPECIAL HANDLING
Some things need more than a standard bag.
A musical instrument, sports kit or delicate object brings its own questions. Tell PORTADOR BLACK what makes the item different before choosing a transport mode or delivery date.
Describe the packed item.
Include material, approximate size and weight, fragility, case type and removable components. Declare sharp parts, magnets, cylinders, liquids or batteries. A familiar consumer item can still have special transport requirements.
Make the protective case part of the plan.
Show proposed packing through the secure workflow when requested. A retail box, soft instrument bag or gift box may need reinforcement. Packing support, special equipment and the associated charges must be included in the accepted scope.
Explain the handling that matters.
Give orientation, lifting, assembly or receiving instructions. The team assesses what is practicable. A handling request is not a promise of climate control, cabin carriage or uninterrupted upright positioning; any specific undertaking must be expressly agreed.
Declare value and a usable deadline.
Irreplaceable objects, event instruments and costly sports gear may need a different custody or risk plan. Explain when the item must be ready to use. Value declaration does not create insurance; any cover requires separate acceptance and policy evidence.
Consider receipt as well as dispatch.
Check destination access, unloading arrangements and who can inspect the package. Record visible condition at handover and retain packing if a concern is discovered. Changes to handling or access can affect the quote and require review.
Can I ask about a guitar or golf kit?+
Yes. Give actual packed measurements, case, material and value for individual review. The category alone does not establish acceptance.
Does special handling mean cabin carriage?+
No. Carriage mode, packing and custody are agreed for the specific item and require the relevant airline and route review.
